A man who was shot and killed Monday night while sitting in a car in front of the Oak Park Market has been identified as Thyran McMurray, 33, of Sacramento, the Sacramento County coroner's office said.

Two men fled the scene in a white two-door compact car, described as a 1970s model Toyota or Honda, possibly a hatchback, with a dark interior, Sacramento Police Sgt. Bob Mitchell said.

Sacramento police detectives released a composite drawing Tuesday of a man wanted for the death of Thyran McMurray, 33, who was shot while sitting in a car in front of the Oak Park Market March 23.

The gunman was described as a black male in his 30s, 6 feet to 6 feet 3 inches tall, of thin to medium build, with light to medium complexion, full beard, and black, short-cropped hair. He was thought to go by the names Gerald, Jerry and Jerome.

Marline D. Rhinehart, 37, has been arrested in the March 23 shooting death of Thyran McMurray in the parking lot of the Oak Park Market, police said.

A witness to the shooting saw Rhinehart at a restaurant near 21st Street and Broadway Tuesday night and flagged down a police officer, said Sacramento Police Sgt. Bob Mitchell.

In a case that hinged on the testimony of a 13-year-old boy, a Sacramento Superior Court jury Monday convicted Marlin O. Rhinehart of gunning down another man on an Oak Park street.

The jury deliberated 2-1/2 days before convicting Rhinehart, 38, of first-degree murder. He is scheduled for sentencing June 7.

The testimony of a 13-year-old boy helped convince jurors that Marlin O. Rhinehart shot Thyran McMurray, 33, at least five times at close range while the victim sat in a car parked in front of the market on March 23, 1992.
